House Members Support NASULGC's Requests

To Members of the NASULGC System:

Yesterday was the deadline set by the House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee to receive requests from members of the House of Representatives for programs and projects to be funded by the subcommittee in the F.Y. 2005 bill. Thanks to a strong grassroots campaign by CARET and other parts of the NASULGC system, a large number of House members included NASULGC's priority requests within their member request letters. In addition to numerous individual requests, some 50 members sent a joint letter to the subcommittee, focusing on restoring the 33 line items cut last year and on the National Research Initiative. The joint letter effort was organized by Reps. Cal Dooley (D-CA) and Chip Pickering (R-MS).

A copy of the joint letter has been posted to the Web site:

There is still time for you to contact your U.S. Senators to ask them to support the system's requests for CSREES for FY 2005. Let's keep those calls, faxes, and emails coming, team!
