Senate Subcommittee Acts on Agriculture Appropriations Bill

To Members of the NASULGC System:

The Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee marked up its F.Y. 2005 bill today. The markup occurred with little advance notice and no fanfare. No paper was distributed... not even to subcommittee members. Details are still sketchy and there is no information about when the full Appropriations Committee or the full Senate may act on this bill.

Here are the only numbers that we have been able to obtain so far:

National Research Initiative $183,000,000
Hatch 180,148,000
McIntire-Stennis 23,000,000
Evans-Allen 36,000,000
Smith-Lever 3(b) and 3(c) 277,742,000
EFNEP 58,000,000
1890s Extension 32,117,000
1890s Facilities (Sec. 1447) 14,912,000
RREA 4,093,000

We will provide further details as soon as we have them. We do not know when we may be able to obtain a full list of line items and amounts. However, we will be certain to send them to you once they are in our hands.
