Senate Passes F.Y. 2007 Continuing Resolution

To Members of the NASULGC System:

Yesterday,  the Senate passed the F.Y. 2007 Continuing Resolution (CR) providing funding for various domestic departments and agencies, including USDA and CSREES. No amendments were adopted to the CR as passed by the House of Representatives, thereby precluding the necessity of a joint House-Senate conference committee. The measure now goes to the President. He is expected to sign it into law shortly.

The CSREES Director told the Budget and Advocacy Committee earlier this week that implementing the terms of the CR will be challenging in some respects. However, the additional funds for the Hatch, McIntire-Stennis, Smith-Lever, Evans-Allen, and 1890s Extension programs will be distributed under the regular formulas for these programs.

Thanks again to all of you who worked hard to successfully retain the $185 million in CSREES special grants and federal administration funds within the agency.
